SEPARATION OR DIVORCE IN THE MARRIED LIFE

Introduction

Astrology from time immemorial and is based on the 'Vedas,' which prescribed the 'knowledge' or 'wisdom,'  Among the Vedhas Jotish is a part which denotes the activities of Navagrahas. The word Jothish is arrived from the word Jothi which is a light. In a dark passage the light shows the path  similarly this science forecast the past, present and future and hence this Sasthra is called as Jothish.  Astrology is recognized as one of the most powerful system and is being practiced and which is followed by millions around the world. Astrology's primary focus is on the planetary movements and on that basis the prediction of the future in all aspects. From Astrology one can also able to find out the karmic tendencies and about its manifestation and how it will influence on a human. In this article I am going to discuss about the cause of Divorce.

Discussion

In ancient texts on Indian Astrology there were mention about important combinations which lead to disappointment in the married life. In Astrology, 7th house and its lord represents spouse and partners. Sage Parasara in his

‘Brihat Parasara Hora Sastra’ describes the following points about 7th house:
Separation is indicated when 7th house lord is in the house of its enemy or if 7th lord is debilitated or 7th lord is receiving aspects from malefic planets or is in ‘astangatva’. Astangatva represents nearer or conjunction with Sun.
Separation is indicated if 7th lord is positioned in 6th, 8th or 12th houses and is weak. Here weakness means conjunction with bad planets.
Separation is indicated if the 7th house is being occupied by malefic planets or seen by malefic planets.

Varahamihira in his ‘Bruhajjataka’ adds that If there is a mixer of good and bad planets in the 7th house, the native will have more than one marriage. This view is also supported by Kalayna Varma in his ‘Saaravali’.
Mantreswara in his ‘Phaladeepika’ says: If Venus or 7th lord is hemmed between malefic planets or conjunct with malefic planets or aspect by malefic planets then it is also a sign of losing the partner.

Kalyana Varma in his ‘Saaraavali’ says: Mars in 7th house leads to loss of partner and if that Mars is aspect by Saturn, then death of partner can be predicted.
Let us remember, in Astrology, the planets Saturn, Mars, Sun, Rahu and Kethu are considered natural malefic planets where as the planets Jupiter and Venus are natural benefic. When Saturn or Rahu involve with 7th house affairs, we can say the spouse has past life debts to be repaid in terms of marriage relationship. Saturn and Rahu represent separation, sometimes owing to the death of the spouse. If Mars is involved, then it denotes one of the partners becoming aggressive and wild thus spoiling the  relation. 

Case study:
Date of birth, Time and plae of a male Jun 20, 1975 at 13.23, at Hong Kong.
The Ascendant is Virgo. The 7th house becomes Pisces whose lord Jupiter posited in the own house. This represents that this native’s wife is strong and endowed with leadership qualities. Mars is also joined with Jupiter thus making her stubborn and quarrelsome. Observe that the 7th lord is in conjunction with the malefic planet Mars. Also this 7th lord is receiving 10th aspect from Saturn, another first class malefic. More over 7th lord is also in aspect from Rahu. Saturn and Rahu represent separation. Here the Pisces is

happen to be the Bhathakasthanam and the Bhathakathipathi Jupiter has occupied the same house. Hence the Karako Bhava nasthi has happened.  So, the marriage was broken. Also Saturn is becoming 5th lord representing children in this horoscope. Saturn is in turn receiving 4th aspect from Mars. More over, Saturn is conjunct with Sun which is a bad combination. This combination represents loss of children. These factors made the native to be separated from his wife and son.

The following are some of the important principles. Various reasons of separation or divorce between husband and wife have been detailed above and now we to in age have astrologically.

While analyzing the horoscope the basic rule of "Sepration" is to be analyzed which gives a clear view of its influences, specially of Rahu.

Sun, Saturn, Rahu and 12^th House lord of sing occupied by these planets are seprative in character, that is to say, these planet cause separation from or abandonment of the traits of the House etc. which they influence by association or aspect.

For example, if two or more of the above-mentioned planets influence the 4^th House and its lord, one is forced to leave his home or country of birth. If they influence 10^th House and its lord and Sun, one has to be separated from the benefits of the ruling powers, viz resigning from service, termination of service, change in profession etc.

Findings

1.   Jupiter in 7^th House generally, even lord of 7^th does bestow very unsatisfactory results. He causes great disappointments and dissatisfaction in married life. He cause undue delay in marriage.

2.   Marital disorder may occur seeking separation when Venus is found in Kritrika, Moola, Aridra or Jyeshtha Nakshatras. Out of these, Kritika is most inauspicious and gives very bad results.

3.   When the 7^th lord is in 6^th house and afflicted by dividing influence, there may be separation. Similarly, when 7^th lord or signification joins the 6^th lord and is afflicted by aspect or conjunction of malefic, similar results will be there. When strong Jupiter makes a link with the above combinations in any form, the separation may be saved but the misunderstanding between husband and wife will be there.

4.  6^th House denotes legal disputes and connection of malefic 6^th lord with 7^th House, 7^th lord or signification may result in legal action and separation. Also when 7^th lord or signification joins 6^th House being afflicted by malefic.

5.  When 7^th House, 7^th lord and significations all are afflicted, conjoined associated or aspected by malefics, unhappiness in married life is indicated. Significations are Venus for males and Mars in case of females.

6.  When Rahu and Saturn join Lagan, one is likely to fac4e strife and separation in married life. When 7^th lord is retrograde and is also afflicted, similar results are experienced.

7.   When in female chart, Aries or Scorpio Lagan rise and 7^thlord is weak, combust, retrograde and is also afflicted, she will be abandoned by her husband.

8.  If combination of Sun and Mars in either horoscope is in 2^nd, 7^th or 8^th House, it holds out excellent prospects for discarding, separation and divorce. It does not necessarily involve loss of partner.

9.  To analyze marriage, affliction to Venus by situation, association or aspects of malefics have an adverse effect on morals. Venus represents the other partner of marriage.

 10.  When lords of 2^nd and 7^th Houses are in constellation of evil lords, particularly in the constellation of 6^th lord and are afflicted, there will be separation, divorce, litigation etc. between the couple.

12.Location of benefics and malefics in 7th house or that in 7th from the moon.

13.Venus and its combination with other planets for a man and Jupiter’s position in a woman’s chart.

Conclusion:

If we want to understand the difference between (i) lack of marriage and (ii) separation and (iii) separation resulting in a divorce, then we need to look at all these factors and combination with various malefic/benefic. If one of the malefic factors does not exist or is replaced by a strong benefic aspect, e.g., 7th or 9th aspect of Jupiter, then it denotes that marriage will indeed take place, but may result in separation. We should also consider that aspect is to be considered far more harmful than conjunction. If Moon and Rahu are conjunct, then Rahu’s aspect on 7th will case more trouble in its dasha/antardasha compared to the case if Rahu was to be situated in 7th. Presence of Rahu/Sun in 7th house in their capacity of malefic planets will result in an unhappy marriage and/or separation. 7th lord in 8th or vice versa also has the same effect.

By the way, Rahu’s conjunction with Moon will cause other psychological problems in the way of mental health that can anyway cause marital discord, in this case indirectly though. Moon/Saturn can cause problem similarly due to depression, but I will try to come up with a totally different article on this topic.

Although both 5th and 7th houses are considered auspicious and together they can cause rajyoga, their conjunction or exchange is not good for marriage. Presence of 7th lord in 5th house causes discord with wife and denotes lack of children. Similarly 5th lord in 7th indicates lack of happiness in marriage.

Just with these aspects, we cannot directly predict divorce. Since divorce has a legal angle, presence of 6th house lord in this equation is required. The influence could again be through aspect or conjunction.

For predicting multiple marriages or remarriage after divorce, benefic + malefic combination on the above mentioned factors should be looked at accordingly. Aspect of a benefic like Jupiter could check this factor, but we have to finally look at the balance of benefic and malefic aspects to predict th final outcome. Some of the important combinations for multiple marriages are:

1.             2 planets located in 11th house

2.             Venus and/or Jupiter (accordingly) and 7th lord in dual signs (Gemini,  Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces)

3.             Mercury or Saturn in 7th house

4.             Mars in 8th house

5.             7^th lord or Mars in the 6^th house.

6.             6^th lord aspecting 7^th house from ascendant.

7.           The 7^th house is in Papakarthari Yoga, hemmed in-between malefic planets.

8.             Mars poised in the star of Saturn (U.Bhadra) occupying the 8^th house

9.             Saturn ‘s aspect to Venus  or  Lord ascendant and the 8^th house.

10.         Venus posited in the 5^th house make not to conceive.

11.         Saturn is posited in Navamsa Lagna.

12.         The 4^th lord and 12^th lord from ascendant are affected by Saturn.

13.       2^nd and 7^th houses are affected by Saturn by its aspect, Association of Mercurry and Sun with Jupiter.

14.         Raghu’s aspect on 4^th & 7^th house lord.

15.            4^th lord from Moon is posited in 12^th house from Moon and is debilitated in Navamsa.
